BASF will bring many innovative products for the Photovoltaic (PV) industry to the 5th International Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (SNEC 2011). This time BASF will use the theme of "Energy Recycling" to show how a complete chemical solution can efficiently convert sunlight into energy. BASF's products cover the entire solar cell value chain. The most notable product lines include: SELURIS® Clean, a new environmentally-friendly cleaning fluid, lead-free metallization ink CypoSolTM, and high-stability engineering for the manufacture of connectors and junction boxes. Plastic Ultramid®.

Photovoltaic power generation will play an important role in China's future energy supply. Dr. Daqing Zheng, Managing Director of BASF Greater China, said: "BASF is adhering to global chemical expertise and is committed to serving the Chinese market with opportunities and innovation through innovative technologies. Our innovative solutions will not only enable efficient solar cells. The realization of production will make this clean alternative energy more economical in the long run."

Pluriol® CF - Making silicon wafers more stable

BASF will present the prestigious Pluriol CF series of customized silicon cutting fluids. This series of products can give customers greater flexibility in cutting silicon wafers, helping them to better tailor the design of cutting mortars to the process flow. Pluriol CF series products can maintain the high quality and high yield of silicon wafers, reduce silicon defects and cracks, and at the same time, reduce energy consumption, minimize the cut-off losses and improve the recovery efficiency, thereby realizing the optimization of production efficiency.

SELURIS® Clean - Makes Solar Cell Cleaning Simpler and Better

The solution provided by BASF's SELURIS brand applies to etching (texturing), doping and cleaning of single-crystal/polycrystalline solar wafers. The series has now launched a new eco-cleaning liquid SELUUS Clean. Using SELURIS Clean before and after doping can make solar cells more efficient. Excellent cleaning and hydrophilicity prior to phosphoric acid doping can significantly improve the doping process, while the efficient cleaning power after doping ensures complete removal of excess phosphosilicate glass (PSG) impurities.

Ultramid® - maintain permanent connection

Photovoltaic production devices need to collect and deliver electricity to consumers through junction boxes and connectors. The materials and finished products selected for such parts and components must meet certain safety and fire safety standards. The most important one is to ensure the safety and health of the user, as well as the safety of the property and the environment. BASF offers two polyamide products: Ultramid A3XZG5 for junction boxes and Ultramid A3X2G7 for connectors. These fiberglass-reinforced engineering plastic products have many advantages such as high stability, halogen-free flame retardant, high heat distortion temperature, and good dimensional stability. Parts made of them are exposed even to rain, high temperature, chemicals, and impact of stones. It is also durable in the environment. Ultramid achieves a perfect balance between stiffness and toughness and can withstand extreme changes in temperature and humidity. In addition, Ultramid maintains excellent impact resistance even at temperatures of minus 40 degrees Celsius and meets the requirements of the US Safety Test Laboratory (UL) 1703 standard. This is very important, and only materials that meet this standard can be used in the manufacture of solar junction boxes.

CypoSolTM for Better Metallization

BASF will also exhibit CypoSol series silver inks, aluminum inks, silver pastes and aluminum pastes for solar wafer metallization. In addition to ordinary screen printing pastes, the CypoSol series also includes the ink L series designed specifically for the new laser transfer process. This lead-free ink is an eco-friendly product that can be used for both front and back printing of silicon wafers. This laser transfer printer was designed and manufactured by the Schmid Group.
