The monel K500 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance and has a higher strength and hardness than monel 400. This is due to the addition of Al, Ti and other elements in the alloy. After certain heat treatment, there is a dispersion of intermetallic compounds on the matrix. The structure of the structure is single - phase austenite and precipitated by diffuse Ni3 (Al, Ti).
Monel K500 has a yield strength of about 400 to 3 times the yield strength and twice the tensile strength of the monel, and can obtain higher mechanical properties through cold processing or aging hardening. Monel K500 alloy has the same corrosion resistance as monel 400 alloy.
Monel K500 alloy is mainly used for pump shaft and impeller, conveyor scraper, well drilling ring, elastic part, valve pad and so on. Other kinds of heat transfer equipment, boiler feed water heater, oil and chemical pipeline, container, tower, tank, valve, pump, reaction kettle, shaft, etc. Because of the low corrosion rate and the high strength of this alloy in the moving seawater, the monel K500 is suitable for the centrifugal pump shaft that makes seawater corrosion resistant.
