The Belgian Microelectronics Research Center (Imec) and Schott Solar, Total, Photovoltech, GDF-SUEZ, Solland Sola, Kaneka, and Dow Corning collaborated to show the conversion rate of 23.3% fork-back contact (IBC) Solar silicon battery.
According to Imec, the introduction of the interdigitated back contact technology aims to increase the conversion efficiency of crystalline silicon solar cells, further reducing the thickness of the cells, simplifying the manufacture of modules, and beautifying solar cell modules.
Imec said that its multi-collaborative solar silicon cell industry affiliate program aims to increase the cell conversion efficiency to more than 20% and adopt a more advanced method to reduce the cost of solar silicon cells. Based on the application of the above technologies, the IBC battery achieves a conversion efficiency of 23.3% in the designated area. (Jsc = 41.6 mA, Voc = 696 mV, FF = 80.4%) and certified by ISE-Callabs.
