Monitoring investigation report: 25% of enterprises use IP monitoring system

Recently, Axis Communications announced the results of the "Monitoring Technology Survey" report conducted by the Loss Prevention Association (LPRC). The report shows that 87% of the retail enterprises that are still using analog surveillance technology are considering switching to network video technology.

Disaster prevention directors from 49 national and local retail companies were surveyed. 98% of companies claim to currently use video surveillance in their stores, but only 25% of companies say they are beginning to use IP surveillance systems. For those who have not yet used the company, the increase of 41.7% is considered to be the biggest obstacle to the application of IP technology. The research report reveals interesting phenomena related to video surveillance. For example, 98% of companies believe that video surveillance can reduce internal losses caused by employee theft, and about 75% think that video surveillance can reduce internal losses such as in-store theft and withdrawal. Of the respondents who believe that image quality is one of the important factors influencing the effectiveness of video surveillance, 100% use simulation technology in part.

IP Technology As far as IP technology is concerned, many problems of IPv4 can be resolved through IPv6. Therefore, IPv6 is a development direction. However, the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 cannot be resolved overnight. IPv6 promises to solve problems such as address, quality of service, and security, but all routers and hosts need to be replaced from full IPv4 to full IPv6. Obviously it is very difficult, and most of the existing operators and users do not see the necessity and urgency of the immediate transition to IPv6. Operators and ISPs can now implement quality of service and security issues by patching IPv4. As for IP address space, they can also use address translation, dynamic IP addresses, and other means to mitigate.
