Morphological characteristics of Gladiolus

Gladiolus, scientifically known as *Gladiolus gandavensis*, is a striking flowering plant native to South Africa. This elegant flower is characterized by its tall, upright flower stem that rises above the foliage. The corolla tube is funnel-shaped and large, with vibrant colors such as red, yellow, purple, white, and blue. Due to its beauty and versatility, Gladiolus is widely cultivated around the world. The primary producers of Gladiolus include the United States, the Netherlands, Israel, and Japan. It is one of the "World's Four Cut Flowers," alongside roses, carnations, and gerberas, making it a staple in floral arrangements. Gladiolus is commonly used in bouquets, flower baskets, and vase arrangements, and even dwarf varieties can be grown in pots for ornamental purposes. As a member of the Iris family, it is a bulbous plant with an impressive display of flowers. The plant has an oblate bulb, typically 2.5–4.5 cm in diameter, covered in a brown or yellow-brown membranous coating. Its basal leaves are sword-shaped, measuring 40–60 cm in length and 2–4 cm in width, with a pointed tip and prominent midrib. The leaves are arranged in two rows, giving the plant a neat and structured appearance. The flowering stem is erect, reaching heights of 50–80 cm, with several alternate leaves at the base. At the top, there is a terminal spike of 25–35 cm, bearing multiple flowers. Each flower is solitary, symmetrical, and comes in a range of colors including red, yellow, white, and pink. The perianth tube is about 2.5 cm long, slightly curved, and the six petals are arranged in two rows, with the upper three being slightly larger. The style is long and three-lobed, supporting the stigma, while the ovary is green and three-chambered. The fruit is an elliptic or obovate capsule that splits open when mature, containing numerous dark brown, winged seeds. Gladiolus blooms from July to September, with fruits maturing between August and October. The plant typically grows to a height of 60–150 cm, with sturdy, unbranched stems and hard, sword-like leaves. The flowers are large, symmetrical, and arranged in two rows, often displaying a wide range of colors, from solid hues to speckled, striped, or wavy patterns. With its vibrant appearance and adaptability, Gladiolus remains a popular choice for gardeners and florists alike.

Pipette Rack

When there is liquid in the Pipette tip, do not place the pipette horizontally or upside down, so as to prevent the liquid from flowing back and corroding the piston spring. In the process of biological experiments, especially in the field of Cell Culture, the pipette is an indispensable laboratory instrument, and the pipette holder is also used very frequently on the laboratory ultra-clean bench or in the biological safety cabinet. The ease of use of the pipette and the pipette holder also affects the ease of experimental operation.
