New Energy Vehicle R&D Must Focus on Battery Energy System

Since 2008, under the promotion of relevant national policies, China has initiated an upsurge in the development of new energy automotive industry. Major automobile manufacturers have successively launched their own new energy automobile models. First-tier cities have demonstrated and promoted pure electric buses, and many consumers have also shown strong interest in new energy vehicles. It can be said that the market response of new energy vehicles in a short period of time has far exceeded expectations.

Undoubtedly, with the increasingly popularization of low-carbon environmental protection and sustainable development concepts, accelerating the development of new energy vehicles is not only the trend of the world's auto industry structure adjustment, but also the only way for China's auto industry to achieve transformation and upgrading. Therefore, the strategic position of new energy vehicles in the overall automobile industry structure in China will become increasingly prominent.

As the battery energy system in the heart of new energy vehicles, it is the core technology of new energy vehicles and accounts for 40% to 50% of the total vehicle cost. Increasing the development of battery energy systems, especially the development of its basic unit, the single cell battery, is an important issue in accelerating the development of the new energy automotive industry.

Under the guidance of the National New Energy Vehicle Supporting Policy, China's lithium battery industry has emerged a number of eye-catching enterprises. The successful development of power batteries independently developed by these companies enabled us to look forward to the development prospects of domestic power battery companies. Among them, BYD's independently researched and developed ET-POWER lithium iron phosphate battery has been commercialized in BYD's e6 model. The 45 e6 units of the Shenzhen Pengcheng Taxi Company have been operating for more than half a year. The 100 kilometer power consumption is only about 21.5 kWh. This is equivalent to only one third to one quarter of the consumer price of the fuel vehicles. It is not only reliable, but also reliable. In a true sense, zero emissions and no pollution are achieved. From the Beijing Olympic Games, the Shanghai World Expo to the Guangzhou Asian Games, we can also see the presence of domestic power battery manufacturers, such as Wanxiang, Mengguli, and Zhonghang Lithium. Together they shouldered the responsibility of providing green power for the event and assumed responsibility. The important task of the demonstration and promotion of new energy vehicles in China is that the self-developed power battery products have withstood the test of the actual operating environment.

Compared with foreign companies, China's power battery companies still have a lot of room for improvement in talent, capital, technology, and equipment.

The core technology is the foundation for the development of the automotive industry. In the development of new energy vehicles, we must accelerate research and development in the field of power batteries in order to enable China's auto industry to take advantage of the development opportunities brought about by new energy vehicles and realize “turning overtaking” to form a comprehensive drive for international automobile brands. Chao, in order to truly enhance China's voice in the field of new energy vehicles.

At present, China is at a critical moment in the transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry. Related companies should seize rare opportunities for development, consciously increase their own innovation, increase investment in R&D, and actively promote key technologies for new energy vehicle core technologies, especially power batteries. The research and development has occupied more technological advantages for the development of the industry. It is necessary to increase support for domestic power battery production companies with independent innovation capabilities from policies and funds, and strive to help enterprises enhance their market competitiveness and promote the healthy development of independent brands of new energy vehicles.
