US PennEngineering develops micro-self-riveting fasteners for stainless steel or high-strength aluminum alloy sheet metal microPEM® TackPin® Type T4TM
PennEngineering has developed a new micro-self-rivet fastener, microPEM® TackPin® Type T4TM, which is considered an ideal hardware riveting solution for stainless steel or high-strength aluminum alloy sheet metal. This new addition to the microPEM family of fasteners makes it possible to install gold-to-sheet gold in small electronic products that do not have to be removed after installation. By eliminating the typical screw-related problems (including excessive cost of tapping, cross-threading, torque control, etc.) to help the micro-screws have a substantial advantage, it also provides a solution that the designer can actually replace the solder or adhesive. The microPEM Type T4 self-riveting fasteners will facilitate fast and more cost-effective installations, even in a wide range of automation applications using tiny hardware.
The notable feature of this fastener is that it has an interface to minimize hole problems, a pointed tip to assist in positioning, and a lower head height to save space.
Made of 400 series stainless steel, the microPEM Type T4 self-rive fasteners can be easily installed by pre-forming the appropriate joint holes on the sheet metal and the substrate to be joined. Use the PEMSERTER® tool or other automatic/standard tools to apply pressure after installation into the hole to complete the installation procedure. The fastener head will hold the top plate gold (thinness 0.2 cm / .008" tightly and permanently mounted. The substrate can be 88 grades or less than Rockwell B grade and at least 0.89 thick. Cm mm / .035".
