Gears rely on their own layout scale and data intensity to accept external loads; this requires high-strength resistance and wear resistance, because the gear shape is messy; gear precision requirements are high;
Commonly used materials are forged steel, cast steel, cast iron.
1. Forged steel is divided into two categories according to the hardness of the tooth surface.
HB<350 hours; called soft tooth surface
H8>350 hours; called hard tooth surface
l. Tooth surface hardness HB<350
Process: Casting blank → normalizing - roughing → tempering, finishing common materials, 45#, 35SiMn, 40Cr, 40CrNi, 40MnB
Features:
It has a good induction function; the tooth surface has higher strength and hardness; the tooth core has better resistance.
After heat treatment, the cutting accuracy can reach 8 levels.
Production is simple, economical, and high productivity; demand for precision is not high.
2. Tooth surface hardness HB>350
When using medium carbon steel:
Process: casting blank → often → rough cutting → quenching → fine cutting → high, medium frequency quenching → low temperature tempering → caries or abrasive running, EDM running.
Commonly used materials: 45, 40Cr, 40CrNi.
Features:
High hardness of the tooth surface HRC=48-55; high touch intensity; good wear resistance.
The tooth core adheres to the patience after quenching and tempering; the impact resistance is good; the bearing capacity is higher.
The accuracy is reduced in half; the accuracy is up to 7 levels.
Suitable for mass production; such as: medium-speed medium-duty gearboxes for automobiles, machine tools, etc.
When using low carbon steel:
Casting blank→constant→crude cutting→tempering→finishing→carburizing quenching→low temperature tempering→grinding. Up to 6 and 7 levels.
Commonly used materials, 20Cr, 20CrMnTi, 20MnB, 20CrMnTo.
Features:
Tooth surface hardness; bearing ability is strong.
Good core resistance; impact resistance.
Suitable for high speed, heavy load, overload drive or compact layout requirements; locomotive main drive gear, aviation gear.
Second, cast steel when the gear diameter d> 400mm; layout is messy; casting is difficult; optional cast steel.
Information ZG45. ZG55; normalizing treatment.
Often; {quality.
Third, cast iron resistance and pitting resistance can be strong; but the impact resistance is poor.
Suitable for smooth operation; power is not used at low speed or large scale and disordered. It can work under oil shortage conditions; suitable for open transmission.
4. Non-metallic materials, cloth, wood, plastic, nylon, suitable for high speed and light load.
Think about when selecting materials:
The working conditions of the gears are different; the damage of the gear teeth is different; it is the basis for determining the calculation principle of the gear strength and the basis for selecting the data and heat treatment.
1. When the impact load is applied, the gear teeth should be simply broken and the material with better resistance should be selected; the low carbon steel can be used for carburizing and quenching.
2. About high-speed closed transmission; the tooth surface is easy to pitting; the hardness of the tooth surface should be selected; the surface of the medium carbon steel can be quenched.
3. About low-speed medium load; gear teeth break; pitting; wear can occur when attack; should select mechanical strength; tooth surface hardness and other information that summarizes mechanical function; optional medium carbon steel quenching and tempering.
4. Strive for a small variety of materials; easy to manage; think about resources and supply.
5. When the layout scale requirements are compact; when the wear resistance is high; alloy steel is used.
6. Equipment and skill status of the production unit.
