Bearing Friction Coefficient

When comparing rolling bearings with sliding bearings, the friction torque of rolling bearings can be calculated based on the bearing's inner diameter using the following formula:
**M = u × P × d / 2**
Where:
- **M** is the friction torque in millinewton-meters (mN·m)
- **u** is the friction coefficient (refer to Table 1)
- **P** is the bearing load in newtons (N)
- **d** is the nominal inner diameter of the bearing in millimeters (mm)
The friction coefficient **u** is significantly influenced by factors such as bearing type, load, speed, and lubrication method. The typical values for a stable rotation under normal conditions are listed in Table 1.
For plain bearings, the friction coefficient usually ranges from **0.01 to 0.02**, though in some cases it may go up to **0.1 to 0.2**.
