Perlite boards are typically manufactured using a high-temperature pressing process with water glass, also known as sodium silicate, which has a specific molar ratio. These boards come in various sizes and specifications. In some cases, inorganic materials like magnesite cement can be used as binders for perlite, helping to reduce the weight of door core panels. Such products are commonly used in architectural applications such as partition walls. Additionally, organic adhesives like urea-formaldehyde resin, polyester, protein-based glues, or construction adhesives such as 107 or 801 glue may be added to enhance bonding. However, some of these materials might release harmful substances or emit toxic gases when burned. Therefore, they are suitable for use in environments with normal or high temperatures after being fully cured, such as insulation boards, soundproofing boards, and heat-resistant boards.
When inorganic bonding materials are primarily used, the product becomes non-ionic and neutral, preventing any displacement reactions with metal molecules. Each perlite particle is coated, forming a protective film that provides excellent water resistance and prevents moisture absorption. This ensures that the steel plate remains corrosion-free. The finished product exhibits high strength, low thermal conductivity, moderate bulk density, good water-repellent properties, resistance to acids and alkalis, freeze-thaw stability, high-temperature resistance, excellent sound insulation, elasticity, and thermal insulation. It is flame retardant, produces no black smoke when dry, and does not emit toxic gases when burned (meeting GB/T20285-2006 and GB12955-2008 standards). These boards can be used as filling materials for fire shutters and fire doors, replacing traditional products like aluminum silicate cotton, rock wool, glass water-based perlite boards, and foamed magnesite cement perlite boards.
