Perlite boards are typically manufactured using a high-temperature hot-pressing process with water glass, also known as sodium silicate, which has a specific molar ratio. These boards come in various sizes and specifications. In some cases, inorganic materials like magnesite cement can be used as binders for perlite, helping to reduce the weight of door core panels. This makes them suitable for use in partition walls and other architectural applications. Additionally, organic adhesives such as urea-formaldehyde resin, polyester, protein-based glues, or construction adhesives like 107 or 801 glue may be added to improve bonding. However, some of these materials can release harmful substances or emit toxic gases when burned. Therefore, they should be fully cured before use in normal or high-temperature environments, such as in insulation boards, soundproofing boards, and heat-resistant boards.
When inorganic binding materials are used as the primary component, the product becomes non-ionic and neutral, avoiding any displacement reactions with metal molecules. Each perlite particle is coated, forming a protective film that offers excellent water resistance and prevents moisture absorption. This ensures corrosion-free steel plates and results in a finished product with high strength, low thermal conductivity, moderate bulk density, good water-repelling properties, and strong resistance to acids, alkalis, freezing, and high temperatures. It also provides excellent sound insulation, elasticity, and thermal insulation. The material is flame retardant, produces no smoke when dry, and does not release toxic gases after combustion (meeting GB/T20285-2006 and GB12955-2008 standards). It can be used as a filling material for fire shutters and fire doors, effectively replacing products like aluminum silicate wool, rock wool, glass water-type perlite boards, and foamed magnesite cement perlite boards.
