First, the reason for corn lodging
1. After the jointing of the corn, it encounters heavy rain, and it is easy to cause large area lodging with the windy corn above grade 5 .
2, the plant is too high and easy to fall.
3, the planting density is too large: the plant spacing is 6-8 inches, easy to fall, the plant spacing is above 8.5 inches, and the lodging resistance is enhanced.
Second, corn lodging and rescue measures
Corn has different lodging times, and the impact on yield is different. Corresponding remedial measures should be taken.
1. Lodging in the early stage. Refers to the lodging of corn from the jointing to the 7th day before the twitching. During this period, the corn plant height continues to grow. After the corn is lodging, it can stand up for 4-5 days (base 2-3 side bends), and the later resistance to secondary lodging The ability is stronger, do not raise it by hand, so as to avoid the secondary lodging of the roots. The earlier the lodging in the early period, the less the yield is reduced, and the late reduction of the lodging is slightly more, generally reducing the yield by 10-30% .
2. Mid-term lodging. It refers to the lodging of corn from 7 days before the heading to the pollination period. During this period, the plant height of the corn has been long, and it can't stand up by its own ability. The corn can't be pollinated, and the yield is generally reduced by 70% or even more. This period of lodging, must be artificially raised, raised within 3 days after the corn is lodging , 3-5 strains of two ridges tied together, must be exposed to the ear, easy to pollinate. After the late arrival, the corn roots are easily broken.
3, late lodging. Refers to the lodging of corn during grain filling to maturity. The earlier the lodging occurs, the more the yield is reduced. The later the fall, the less the yield is reduced. The lodging that occurs during the milk ripening period should be raised in time, and the lodging that occurs after the corn is fixed will not need to be lifted.
