Transgenic Rice Saves 60% of Pesticides

The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact of genetically modified rice on rice farmers in field production. Using the survey data of 320 households from 17 natural villages that participated in production trials from 2002 to 2004, the models for pesticide application and yield were estimated. The results showed that planting genetically modified rice could save more than 60% of pesticide application and significantly recover the impact caused by pests. Loss of production, while reducing pesticide poisoning by farmers.
