2012 listed fertilizer companies' overall profit bullish

In 2012, the performance of listed nitrogen fertilizer companies experienced a significant upward trend, driven by lower sales costs, higher selling prices, strong domestic demand in the first half of the year, and a robust export performance in the second half. Additionally, an ample supply of natural gas contributed to improved profitability. Meanwhile, listed compound fertilizer companies continued to focus on product innovation and agricultural service development, which also led to a notable increase in profits. However, overcapacity remained a challenge, particularly for phosphate and compound fertilizer products, leading to sustained low prices and poor performance in some sectors. Among the top nitrogen fertilizer companies, such as Cangzhou Dahua, Hualu Hengsheng, Jianfeng Chemical, and Xinlianxin, net profits attributable to shareholders saw substantial growth. Specifically, their year-on-year increases were 310.88%, 27.31%, 33.53%, and 72.4%, respectively. Xinlianxin's annual net profit reached 311 million yuan, marking a new high since its listing. This growth was mainly attributed to reduced average sales costs for urea and methanol, along with increased selling prices. Despite overall positive trends, some nitrogen fertilizer companies faced declining performances in 2012. For example, Huachang Chemical and Liaotong Chemical saw sharp declines in net profits—down 199.77% and 97.67% year-on-year, respectively. However, their fertilizer segments still showed significant improvements compared to the previous year. The losses in other petrochemical divisions, however, overshadowed these gains. In contrast, phosphorus chemical companies struggled throughout the year due to overcapacity and high production costs, resulting in consistently low prices for phosphate and compound fertilizers. This led to flat or even negative performance for many firms. Yuntianhua, for instance, reported a net loss of 548 million yuan, with total profit reaching -5.17 billion yuan. The company’s performance was further impacted by extended shutdowns at its ammonia and urea plants. On the other hand, compound fertilizer companies like Kim Jung-dol saw impressive growth. Its net profit attributable to shareholders reached 550 million yuan, up 25.31% from the previous year. Other companies, such as Xindu Chemical, also reported rising profits, with net profit increases of 41.05%, 18.83%, and 5.40%. These gains were largely due to the introduction of innovative products such as slow-release, nitro-compound, and water-soluble fertilizers, along with enhanced agrochemical services. While some companies faced challenges, the overall fertilizer industry in 2012 demonstrated resilience, with key players adapting through innovation and strategic adjustments.

The refractive index is near 2.4. Zinc Selenide has a very low absorbtion coefficient and is used extensively for high power infrared laser optic. It is non-hygroscopic.
Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) - transparent in wide spectral range from yellow (visible) to far IR. ZnSe material is a chemically inert, non-hygroscopic and highly pure product that is very effective in many optical applications due to its extremely low bulk losses, high resistance to thermal shock and stability in virtually all environments, easily machined.

Special care should be taken when handling Zinc Selenide as it is a toxic material. Always wear rubber or plastic gloves to avoid risk of contamination.
