Research progress on the major animal and plant functional genomes of the “863 Program” progressed smoothly

In the field of modern agricultural technology of the National “863 Program”, we use the technology platform of the rice functional genome established in the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” to carry out the functional genome of rice yield, quality, disease resistance and stress resistance, and nutritionally efficient traits. Research, clone verification of new genes and regulatory factors, application of chip technology to establish genome-wide expression profiles of important agronomic traits in rice, and conduct comparative genomics studies and systemic identification of chromosome 3 and 4 functional genes.

Using functional platforms such as rice and Arabidopsis model plant functional genomes, functional genomic studies of wheat, corn, cotton, rapeseed, soybean, peanut, and tomato crops were carried out, and genes for important agronomic traits were cloned and verified; functions of silkworms and domestic chickens were established. Genome research technology platform, isolation and cloning of important functional genes and regulatory factors related to silk protein synthesis, sex determination, developmental metamorphosis, molecular immunity and resistance to microbes, growth, quality, resistance, reproduction of chickens and other important economic traits.
