Performance analysis of dimpled Dalbergia

Shape: The diameter of the dimpled Dalbergia typically ranges from 20 to 30 centimeters, though some specimens can grow up to 40 to 50 centimeters. There are relatively few hollow spots at the center of the wood.

Color: When freshly cut, the wood of this dwarf Dalbergia appears yellowish-red due to its high oil content. Its surface oxidizes rapidly, turning a vibrant orange-red with distinct dark black streaks that resemble the ribbing of Laos rosewood. By about three months after cutting, the color stabilizes.

Fragrance: The dimpled Dalbergia emits a strong, tangy aroma when it’s first cut.

Density: This wood is exceptionally hard, fine-grained, and rich in oils, with a density ranging from 0.98 to 1.22 grams per cubic centimeter. This makes it comparable to the density of S. chinensis, commonly referred to as Laos rosewood.

--- As I’ve been researching different types of wood for my next woodworking project, I’ve come across some fascinating details about the dimpled Dalbergia. It’s truly remarkable how much variation there can be within a species, especially when it comes to physical characteristics like size and coloration. What caught my attention most was its dense structure and unique scent—it’s unlike anything I’ve worked with before. For someone who appreciates both aesthetics and functionality, this wood seems ideal. Its ability to hold a polish beautifully combined with its durability makes it perfect for intricate designs or long-lasting furniture pieces. Plus, knowing that it ages well and retains its vibrant hues over time adds another layer of appeal. I’m excited to see how it will transform under my hands—it might just become one of my favorite materials yet!
