Second-generation ID card reader is born this way

As the economy of our country continues to grow, people's living standards have steadily improved. Many individuals, seeking broader opportunities for growth and development, have chosen to leave their homeland and seek work far away. While this pursuit of personal aspirations has brought many benefits, it has also unfortunately given rise to various fraudulent activities, scams, and deceptive practices within society. To ensure social security, stability, and easier management, the Chinese government introduced national identification documents for citizens in 1984. These early IDs were made using photocopying techniques and featured a 15-digit code. Later, in 1995, a new anti-counterfeit resident identity card was launched, incorporating a holographic plastic cover to prevent forgery. By 1999, the citizen ID number system was fully established, assigning each person a unique 18-digit identifier. With advancements in technology, the anti-counterfeit measures of the first-generation ID cards eventually became vulnerable to criminal exploitation. This undermined the initial purpose of these cards, prompting the introduction of the second-generation ID cards starting January 1, 2004. These modern ID cards are crafted from multiple layers of polyester material and utilize non-contact IC card technology. They boast several key features: enhanced IC card integration, improved anti-counterfeit capabilities, faster processing times, increased data storage capacity, defined validity periods, and expanded distribution channels. In tandem with the rollout of these new IDs, the Public Security Bureau developed an advanced reader capable of verifying second-generation IDs. Not only does this device confirm the authenticity of these cards, but it can also extract nine pieces of information—such as name, gender, ethnicity, date of birth, ID number, issuing authority, validity period, and even a photo—with a recognition accuracy of 100%. As we continue to evolve technologically, these ID systems remain crucial in maintaining order and ensuring that every citizen is uniquely identified. They play an essential role in managing population data while safeguarding against fraud and misuse. It's remarkable how much effort goes into protecting something as simple yet vital as an identity card, reflecting just how seriously authorities take this responsibility.
