The dicofol production line has been officially closed.

Jiangsu Yangon Group officially shut down its dicofol production line on the 17th of last month, marking the complete phase-out of dicofol production in China. This decision reflects the country's commitment to environmental protection and aligns with international regulations regarding persistent organic pollutants (POPs).

Dicofol, also known as Triclosan or Kailesan, is a solid compound in its pure form. When formulated into a 20% emulsifiable concentrate, it appears as a pale yellow to reddish-brown transparent oily liquid. It functions as a broad-spectrum acaricide, effectively targeting adult mites, nymphs, and eggs. The chemical is stable under acidic conditions but tends to degrade in alkaline environments.

From a safety perspective, dicofol is considered a low-toxic acaricide with minimal harm to humans, animals, and many beneficial insects. It has been widely used in agriculture for controlling mites on cotton, fruit trees, and ornamental plants due to its strong efficacy and cost-effectiveness. However, its production involves the use of DDT as an intermediate, leading to residual contamination that poses risks to both the environment and human health.

In April 2007, China officially approved the "National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention," which outlined a clear strategy to gradually reduce and eventually eliminate the production of dicofol. This move underscores the nation's efforts to comply with global environmental standards and protect public health from the long-term effects of harmful chemicals.
