Recently, Li Hui, an associate researcher of the Superconducting and New Energy Materials Research Department of the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Zhang Wei of the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom published a review article entitled Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells: From Fundamentals to Commercial Deployment in Chemical Reviews.

The use of a laminated structure is an effective means to improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar cells, thereby reducing the cost of photovoltaic unit area. Li Hui and others conducted an in-depth analysis and systematic summary of a series of urgent problems to be solved, such as the latest development, key materials, preparation technology, device stability, device cost, environmental impact and industrialization of perovskite tandem solar cells. Perovskite tandem solar cells have the advantages of high conversion efficiency, low production cost, low production temperature, adjustable band gap, high structure and defect tolerance, etc., can be combined with silicon cells that account for more than 90% of the market, and can also be flexible The combination of copper indium gallium selenium battery can further improve the actual photoelectric conversion efficiency of the battery without increasing the cost. This review article has important guiding significance for further improving the conversion efficiency of perovskite tandem photovoltaic cells and promoting the industrial application of tandem photovoltaic cells.

The research work is funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Senior Newton Research Scholar of the Royal Society.
