Welded Joint Processing:
Once the adhesive used to bond the sports floor sheet has fully cured, a V-shaped groover is used to cut into the floor to about two-thirds of its thickness along the joint line. The welding rod is then trimmed to match the length of the joint. A heat-welding machine is applied to melt both the sports floor sheet and the welding insert simultaneously. As the material becomes pliable, the sides of the welding insert are pressed firmly against the edges of the floor sheet, ensuring a strong and even bond before the surface begins to shine.
After the welding process is complete, while the welding insert is still warm, any excess material that protrudes above the surface is carefully scraped off with a knife. Once the area has cooled completely, the corners are smoothed out to ensure a seamless and flat finish that blends perfectly with the rest of the floor.
The areas that have been scratched or damaged should be waxed and heated to restore their glossy appearance. For sections that come into contact with walls, the same color should be used without adding silicon acetate, ensuring a consistent look.
Sealant Joint Processing:
When installing an elastic floor, the edges of the two adjacent sheets should overlap by approximately 20mm. Using a sharp knife, the overlapping area is neatly cut to create a solid joint. Unlike welded joints, sealant splicing does not involve joining both sides of the seam. Instead, the joint is sealed using a thin layer of sealant, typically less than 1mm in thickness. This method is less visible but may not be as durable over time. One downside is that water can seep through the joint, leading to potential moisture damage or mold growth. Additionally, this method is not ideal for antibacterial flooring materials such as most vinyl or rubber sheets. However, it provides a cleaner, more aesthetic finish when done properly.
Both welding and sealing methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. Choose the one that best suits your specific project needs and desired outcome.
