Weld joint processing:
After the adhesive used for bonding the sports floor sheet has fully cured, the next step is to cut the joint using a V-shaped groover. The groove should be dug to approximately two-thirds of the thickness of the sports floor sheet. Then, the welding rod is cut to match the length of the joint.
A heat-welding machine is then used to melt both the sports floor sheet and the welding inlay simultaneously. Once melted, the sides of the inlay are pressed firmly against the edges of the floor sheet, ensuring a strong and even bond. This process must be completed before the surface becomes glossy, allowing for a seamless and smooth finish.
Once the welding is done, when the inlay is still warm, any excess material is carefully scraped off with a knife. After the area has cooled completely, the corners are flattened to ensure the surface remains smooth and level with the rest of the floor.
To enhance the appearance, the scratched areas should be waxed and heated to restore a shiny and uniform look. Additionally, any sections that come into contact with the wall should be painted with the same color, avoiding the use of silicon acetate to prevent discoloration or adhesion issues.
Sealant joint processing:
When installing an elastic floor, the edges of the two flooring sections should overlap by about 20mm. A sharp knife is then used to trim the overlapping part neatly, creating a solid and tight joint. Unlike welded joints, sealant joints are not connected on both sides. They are typically used for joints narrower than 1mm, making them less visible. However, one drawback is that water can seep through these joints over time, leading to potential moisture damage. Most rolled or sheet-type floors, such as vinyl or rubber, are not ideal for antibacterial treatments. Using a sealed splicing method can provide a more aesthetically pleasing and durable finish.
Both welding and sealing have their own advantages and disadvantages. The choice between them depends on the specific requirements of the project, including durability, aesthetics, and environmental conditions.
