The use of hydraulic motors on small cranes

Hydraulic motors are typically smaller than plunger motors, but their speed is limited and cannot be too high. They also tend to have poor resistance to contamination, usually operating at less than 200 RPM. Due to higher internal leakage, vane motors offer advantages such as a compact size, lower noise levels, longer service life, and efficient construction compared to other motor types. Hydraulic motors are widely used in hoists, ships, construction equipment, mining machinery, injection molding machines, metallurgical systems, shipbuilding, petrochemicals, and port handling equipment. Also known as oil motors, they serve as energy conversion devices that transform hydraulic energy into mechanical motion. For small cranes, the BM4 series cycloidal hydraulic motor offers several key features: - Easy forward and reverse operation with stable speed performance. - A variety of oil ports, output shaft options, and flange configurations. - A dual rolling bearing design that enhances lateral load capacity. The column-mounted stator and rotor design ensures higher oil distribution accuracy and improved mechanical efficiency. The motor also features a reliable shaft seal that can handle high back pressure, making it suitable for both parallel and series applications. Key operational guidelines for small cranes include: 1. In intermittent use, the running time should not exceed 10% per minute. 2. It is recommended to use 68# anti-wear hydraulic oil with a viscosity range of 37–73 cSt and cleanliness level ISO 18/13. 3. The motor should not operate at maximum pressure and maximum speed simultaneously. 4. Maximum working pressure refers to the inlet pressure, while rated pressure refers to the pressure difference. 5. The motor can tolerate up to 10 MPa of back pressure, though it's advisable not to exceed 5 MPa. If exceeded, an external drain line should be connected. 6. The maximum operating oil temperature should not go beyond 80°C. 7. Before full load, the motor should run at 40% of the maximum pressure for one hour. Small cranes come in various capacities, including 5-ton, 8-ton, and 12-ton models. The BM4 cycloidal hydraulic motor has several advantages: 1. It can be used in both series and parallel configurations, with an external drain pipe required when used in series. 2. Advanced stator and rotor design leads to low starting pressure, high efficiency, and stable performance at low speeds. 3. The use of tapered roller bearings allows for greater radial load capacity, enabling direct drive of the working mechanism. 4. An advanced shaft seal design improves back pressure tolerance. 5. A reliable linkage shaft design enhances the motor’s overall lifespan. 6. An advanced flow distribution mechanism provides high precision and automatic wear compensation, ensuring long-term reliability.
