Installing the wiring for electric curtains can be a DIY project, and I’m here to walk you through the process. Whether you’re using a remote control or a manual switch, understanding the basics of electrical setup is essential.
1. If you only want to use a remote control (similar to your TV or air conditioner remote)
In this case, you just need an electrician to install a "86 model" junction box in your curtain rail area or near the mounting surface. This box should have a socket, much like a standard air vent. The key point is that the box must be made of the non-national standard plastic type, which is slightly larger than the regular electrical boxes. Make sure the electrician leaves it ready for future wiring.
2. If you want both remote control and a manual switch panel (like a light switch)
If you prefer having both options, ask the electrician to install a junction box in a convenient and aesthetic location on the wall. Again, make sure it's an "86 model" box. From this box, run a three-core cable—this includes one live wire and two neutral wires. Important note: Each motor for the electric curtain track needs its own separate three-core wire. You cannot share the neutral wire between two motors.
Tip: This wiring method is best done during the early stages of installation. Also, ensure that the reserved junction box remains powered at all times for easy access later.
Wiring the electric curtain isn’t complicated. Once the wiring is in place, connecting the controller is straightforward. Most products come with detailed instructions. Simply replace the original outlet or switch with the controller, and you're good to go. If you're unsure, always refer to the manufacturer’s guide or consult a professional for safety.
