Determining the Scale Parameters of SKF Imported Bearings

In many applications, the internal bore dimensions of imported bearings are constrained by the machine or equipment layout. Whether considering operating life, static load safety factor, or economic efficiency, it is essential to perform scale calculations before finalizing other dimensions and layouts. These calculations involve comparing the actual load on the bearing with its static load capacity. This is especially relevant when the bearing is stationary under load (no relative motion between the inner and outer rings) or rotating at very low speeds. In such cases, the safety factor against excessive plastic deformation of the raceway and rolling elements is evaluated. Most imported bearings operate under dynamic loads, where the inner and outer rings move relative to each other. In these situations, scale calculations are used to assess the safety factor against early fatigue failure of the rolling elements and raceways. Under special conditions, the nominal life can be calculated according to DIN ISO 281, providing an estimate of the expected service life in years. Properly determining the scale parameters ensures that the bearing's performance potential is fully utilized. Therefore, accurate calculation plays a crucial role in selecting the right SKF imported bearings for optimal function and cost-effectiveness.
