Zhangye stone processing industry has a long history, from the most primitive bluestone processing to the now beautiful marble and granite processing, after more than 30 years of development history. In the early days, based on the abundant local mine resources, the company mainly produced some marble blocks. Later, some enterprises began to process marble sheets by introducing equipment and expanding production scale, and gradually changed the history of only producing blocks. In the 21st century, in order to promote the adjustment of industrial structure, the town has shut down a large number of high-energy, high-pollution stone processing enterprises, and most resource-based stone processing enterprises have withdrawn from the stage. This round of the survival of the fittest forced a group of enterprises to seek a second transformation, using mature technology, product upgrades and technological transformation.
"Now, the stone processing enterprises that rely entirely on 'selling resources' to eat have disappeared." Zhang Min, secretary of the party committee of Zhangye Town, revealed. At present, the town has a total of 85 marble processing enterprises, operating more than 100 marble varieties from home and abroad, specializing in the production of marble slabs, thin plates, stone mosaics and other stone products, raw materials directly from the world's mines. It is understood that the town produces more than 3 million square meters of export plates annually, with annual sales of more than 1 billion yuan. The products are sold well in the United States, Spain, Germany and other countries.
For the development of the standardization and service industry, the town established the Stone Industry Chamber of Commerce and formulated the "Code of Conduct for Stone Enterprises" to make clear provisions on the safety production, industry self-discipline and standard competition of member units, and gradually reverse the majority of stone enterprises. Loose and disorderly business conditions, from the respective war to the group to cooperate, in order to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, and further develop regional brands to lay a solid foundation.
